Wildlife Photography Expedition to Galápagos Islands

Embark on this once-in-a-lifetime photographic journey through the enchanting Galápagos Islands. Known for its fearless wildlife and stunning landscapes, the Galápagos offers unparalleled opportunities to capture extraordinary imagery of species like blue-footed boobies, giant tortoises, sea lions, and more. Onboard a small, luxury yacht, we will have a flexible schedule tailored to lighting conditions and wildlife activity. Guided by local naturalists, this workshop is designed for photographers with ample opportunities for one-on-one instruction, image reviews, and post-processing sessions.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Guayaquil, Ecuador
Arrive in Guayaquil and transfer to the hotel.
Join the group for a welcome dinner at a favorite local restaurant.
Day 2: Flight to the Galápagos
Morning flight to San Cristobal Island in the Galápagos.
Visit the “David Rodriguez” Breeding Center to photograph hatchling turtles and learn about the island’s conservation efforts.
Highlights: giant tortoises, blue-footed boobies, snorkeling with sea lions.
Day 3: North Seymour Island and Black Turtle Cove
Morning: Explore North Seymour Island’s arid vegetation zone, home to land and marine iguanas, frigatebirds, and blue-footed boobies.
Afternoon: Visit Black Turtle Cove, a haven for young marine life.
Highlights: rays, reef sharks, sea turtles, snorkeling opportunities.
Day 4: Bartholomew Island and Egas Port
Morning: Climb to the summit of Bartholomew Island’s extinct volcano for breathtaking views of Pinnacle Rock.
Afternoon: Explore Egas Port’s tide pools and photograph Galapagos fur seals basking in the sun.
Highlights: penguins, lava cactus, colorful fish, and marine iguanas.
Day 5: Tagus Cove and Urbina Bay
Morning: Photograph flightless cormorants and penguins in Tagus Cove.
Afternoon: Discover Urbina Bay’s fascinating uplifted coastline, home to giant land iguanas and coral remnants.
Highlights: hawks, tortoises, tropical fish, snorkeling opportunities.
Day 6: Espinoza Point and Vicente Roca Point
Morning: Visit Fernandina Island’s Espinoza Point, known for its pristine ecosystem and nesting flightless cormorants.
Afternoon: Explore Vicente Roca Point’s stunning coves by boat and snorkel in its biodiverse waters.
Highlights: sea turtles, blue-footed boobies, rays, and puffer fish.
Day 7: Buccaneer Cove and Sullivan Bay
Morning: Capture images of seabirds and Sally Lightfoot crabs at Buccaneer Cove’s steep cliffs.
Afternoon: Explore Sullivan Bay’s dramatic lava fields and search for signs of plant life emerging on the volcanic terrain.
Highlights: marine iguanas, herons, and octopi.
Day 8: Bachas Beach and Charles Darwin Research Station
Morning: Visit Bachas Beach to photograph flamingos, sea turtles, and Sally Lightfoot crabs.
Afternoon: Tour the Charles Darwin Research Station to see giant tortoises up close.
Highlights: hatchling and adult tortoises, flamingos, and beachscapes.
Day 9: Kicker Rock and Departure
Morning: Circumnavigate Kicker Rock, a striking volcanic formation, for a final opportunity to photograph seabirds and marine life.
Afternoon flight back to Guayaquil, with flights home departing anytime after 5:00 PM.
