'Spring Showers'
A precious, momentary encounter granted me the once in a lifetime fortune of photographing a Cuckoo during a downpour of spring showers. As the rain slowed, the sun emerged, reflecting light through the droplets, creating a glistening, diamond bokeh.
'Spring Arrival'
Heralding the arrival of Spring, the Common Cuckoo migrate to UK pastures each year. Their iconic call teases throughout the land, but their elusive nature means perseverance is key when a camera is in hand.
'Spring Arrival II'
As the sun began to set on a warm, spring evening, a Cuckoo called from the breezy treeline. I’d noticed a potential photograph, and re-positioned my camera to be facing the sun. Should the Cuckoo land nearby, I imagined I’d be able to capture the bird, backlit, against an almost black background. To my glee, the bird landed and the magic moment occurred!
'Monarch'
Early on a September morning, I ventured into the countryside. As I walked through the rusty ferns and fallen leaves, I came face to face with a majestic monarch, standing proud over its autumn landscape. The Red Deer didn’t seem to mind my presence, and stood tall as I photographed it.
'Stag Staredown'
Seeking shade from the warm sun, I came across a Red Deer deep in the forest, framed by luscious foliage, just turning into autumnal tones. It was unsure at first, but relaxed when I gained its trust.
'Spring Sunrise'
Early one spring morning, I encountered a young deer in the forest. It stood perfectly in a shard of golden light, silhouetted by the rising sun and shrouded in a delicate mist. After a few seconds it took off into the nearby meadow, but stood curiously long enough for me to take a few images.
'Curiosity'
As I walked through the forest on a warm, summer morning, I heard a wispy cry coming from the nearby tree. Nestled within the hollowed trunk were three young Kestrel chicks, anxiously awaiting their morning feed. Just a few moments later, a parent returned to the nest, and all three chicks locked their eyes to the skies in curiosity.
